Editors team

We are the editors of RawafedZusammenfluss. Together no matter if old or new neighbour, we write, photograph and draw illustrations on a voluntary basis. We are united by our interest in the diversity of Treptow-Köpenick and Berlin. Let's introduce ourselves briefly one at a time. Guest contributions come from committed longtime neighbours, newcomers and projects in Treptow-Köpenick and beyond. Below the article you can see who the author is.

Ava Mirkovic, volunteer coordinator at the community accommodation Quittenweg., is very interested in dialogue and learning from and about each other. She has experience with the use of different media and formats and is open to creative ideas.

 

 

 

YahyaAlAous 155Yahya Alaous, A Syrian journalist, worked for many Arabic newspapers, he was arrested for two years in Syria after writing a critical articles on Human rights and corruption. He came to Berlin with his family in 2015 and he writes a regular column for Süddeutscche Zeitung since August 2015.

 

 

GiuliaGiulia Brabetz is an author and translator at Rawafed. She studies the History and Culture of the Near and Middle East with focus on semitic languages at Freie Universität Berlin. Apart from that, she is interested in (human) communication in all its forms, especially in languages, cultures and music.

 

kathaKatha coordinates InteraXion, the welcome office for migrants* and refugees in Treptow-Köpenick and accompanies RawafedZusammenfluss through her work. She gained journalistic experience through various youth press projects and the student magazine UnAufgefordert. When she is not looking for new stories, she romps around in bouldering halls.

He is the founding-Editor of The Pashtun Express an online news website, providing News, Reports Pakistan and Afghanistan in Pashto and English languages. Noor has also written for BBC Pashto and Radio Mashaal the Pashto-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. He worked as a Reporter & Editor.

Wannsee 1Frederik, Maiko and Ehsan come from Germany, Eritrea and Iran. They live together in a shared flat in Treptow-Köpenick. The three write in turns for RawafedZusammenfluss from their shared life and report on personal experiences and impressions.

Tamerlan is married, has two children and travels a lot. He likes to explore his surroundings, be it climbing, going to the cinema, reading in a café or going for a walk with friends. Actually, he once studied education but here he is often consulted on IT issues. Tamerlan speaks English, Russian, and of course Chechen, which is his mother tongue. Now he learns German five times a week in a course.

foto RawafedXenia studies Arabic Studies at the Free University Berlin and teaches German as a second language. Her Interests are multiculturality, art and spirituality. Writing was all along one of her greatest passions and her main subjects are culture and society. She was born and raised in a little village in Poland until she left to Italy at the age of 18. Now she regards Berlin her new home.

Christie Burr, a Utah native, is a student at Brigham Young University studying Social Sciences and German. When she is not studying or working she enjoys volunteering in her community, playing the piano, and basking in the vast beauty that Utah has to offer.

 Aous Shaheen (23) is a Palestinian writer currently completing his MA studies in psychology in Berlin. He believes that writing, before anything, is an experience of self discovery that starts with reflection and active engagement with the surrounding. Alongside academia and literature he is interested in music as a form of cultural expression and universality.

Hichem is a staff member at InteraXion, welcome office and housing counselling for migrants and refugees in Treptow-Köpenick. In addition to his work, Hichem is studying social work with a focus on flight and migration. He also writes for RawafedZusammenfluss or can be heard on the podcast Funk aus Nah-Ost.

Mahmoud Ahmed Ar-Rejleh is a free writer and some of his plays are banned from the show in Syria. The plays were written when the revolution started in 2011. He studied Arabic literature at the University of Damascus where he also acted as chief editor of a journal for literature from 1995-2005.

Some editors decide to publish under an alias. Their full name is known to the editors' team.
